- Quarantined Emails:
- Emails that are identified as SPAM will be quarantined.
- An email summary showing all quarantined emails will be sent to you daily at 7:00am.
- You will not receive a summary if none of your emails were quarantined the previous day.
- In the email summary, you will see options to release, block or take other action on an email but these options are disabled and therefore can be ignored. You can not login to ProofPoint.
- To release a SPAM email, forward the daily digest summary email to: IT@eriewaterworks.org. A ticket will be created for you automatically. PLEASE include a note explaining which email in the list you want us to check.
- Emails with Attachments:
- ALL emails with attachments are blocked so that the attachment and email can be checked.
- You will receive a notification instantly if someone sends you an email with an attachment that was blocked.
- If you would like the email checked and released, forward the attachment block notification email to: IT@eriewaterworks.org. A ticket will be created for you automatically.
- IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Trusted Senders:
- There is no such thing as a completely trusted email sender. Even if you know and trust someone, their computer could be infected without their knowledge, making anything they send potentially unsafe. Until an email attachment has been thoroughly scanned and confirmed to be safe, you cannot assume it is safe, no matter who the sender is.
- “Legitimate emails”
- While I can help ensure emails are safe to open and free from viruses, I can’t confirm their legitimacy. I don’t have insight into your daily contacts or which companies you work with. Please use your judgment when identifying legitimate emails. If you’re unsure, reach out directly to the sender using a known good contact method. DO NOT respond to a questionable email.
